What is Krentika?
Karintika, also known as qarantita, is a traditional Algerian dish made from chickpea flour. It resembles a pancake or crepe in appearance and taste.

       Origin of Krentika   :

It is believed that Krentika originated in the city of Oran, western Algeria, during the Spanish occupation.                                                                                                                                                    

     Krentika Ingredients                        :

  * egg                           * Vegetable oil

 * water                          * (optional) cheese 

 * salt                            * Chickpea flour                                                                                                      

 * (Optional) Spices such as cumin and black pepper   

   How to make Krentika   :
In a bowl, mix chickpea flour with water and salt until you get a smooth dough.
Add eggs and vegetable oil to the mixture and mix well.
(Optional) Add cheese and spices to the mixture.
Heat a frying pan over medium heat, then grease it with a little oil.
Pour a large amount of dough into the mold, then distribute it evenly in a circular shape.
Cook the karintika for 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown.
Serve the krentika hot with olive oil and harissa or any other sauce of your choice.

You can use pre-ground chickpea flour or grind it yourself from garbanzo beans.
You can add a little milk to the dough to make it softer.
You can add vegetables such as onions or green peppers to the mixture.
Krentika can be baked in the oven instead of fried.
